Design conceptWhat people build in Dubai Hills Estate
Most requests here are for a sauna in a spare room or a sauna and plunge in the garden, sized to newer and more compact villa layouts.
- Townhouses. An infrared or compact traditional sauna in a ground floor storeroom, the maid's room or a spare bedroom.
- Villas. A hybrid sauna off the master suite, or a garden sauna and cold plunge beside the pool.
- Apartments. A built in infrared sauna or a steam shower, on a normal circuit.
Fitting a sauna into a newer home
Newer homes tend to have smaller spare rooms, so we draw the sauna to the room rather than fit a standard box.
A two person infrared sauna needs about 1.2 x 1.2 m and a family sauna about 2 x 2 m. We drop the ceiling inside taller rooms so the heat stays where you sit. See the sauna size guide.
Approvals and power
Garden structures need a community NOC, and works in apartments go through building management. We prepare the drawings. Infrared runs on single phase. A traditional heater needs a dedicated circuit, which we install and test.

Questions from Dubai Hills Estate homeowners
Do you charge for a site visit?
Site visits in Dubai are free. We measure the space, check power and ventilation, and send you a drawing and a fixed price within a few days.
Do I need approval to build a sauna?
Indoor saunas in a villa rarely need approval beyond your community's rules for contractors. Outdoor saunas and structural changes may need an NOC from your master developer or community. We prepare the drawings for the application.
What electrical supply does a sauna need?
Every sauna needs its own dedicated circuit from your distribution board. Infrared saunas usually run on a standard single phase supply. Traditional heaters of around 9 kW often need a three phase supply. We check your board at the site visit and our electrician installs and tests the circuit.
How long does it take to build a sauna at home?
Most indoor saunas take two to three weeks from design sign off to handover, with two to four days of that on site. Outdoor saunas and steam rooms take longer because of foundations, waterproofing and tiling.
